Surah Hijr with Urdu & English Translation and Audio - سورۃ الحجر

الۤرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ وَقُرۡءَانࣲ مُّبِینࣲ

یہ آیتیں کتاب کی ہیں اور قرآن واضح کی

Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.

Alif-Laaam-Raa; tilka Aayaatul Kitaabi wa Qur-aa-nim Mubeen

رُّبَمَا یَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوۡ كَانُوا۟ مُسۡلِمِینَ

کافر بڑی حسرت کریں گے کہ کاش وہ مسلمان ہو جاتے

Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.

Rubamaa yawaddul lazeena kafaroo law kaanoo muslimeen

ذَرۡهُمۡ یَأۡكُلُوا۟ وَیَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَیُلۡهِهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ

انہیں چھوڑ دو کھا لیں اور فائدہ اٹھا لیں اور انہیں آرزو بھلائے رکھے سو آئندہ معلوم کر لیں گے

Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.

Zarhum yaakuloo wa tatamatta'oo wa yulhihimul amalu fasawfa ya'lamoon

وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابࣱ مَّعۡلُومࣱ

اور ہم نے جتنی بستیاں ہلاک کی ہیں ان سب کے لیے ایک مقرر وقت لکھا ہوا تھا

And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.

Wa maaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa wa lahaa kitaabum ma'loom

مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا یَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ

کوئی قوم اپنے وقت مقرر سے نہ پہلے ہلاک ہوئی ہے نہ پیچھے رہی ہے

No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.

Maa tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahaa wa maa yastaakhiroon

وَقَالُوا۟ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِی نُزِّلَ عَلَیۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ

اور انہوں نے کہا اے وہ شخص جس پر قرآن نازل کیا گیا ہے بے شک تو مجنون ہے

And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

Wa qaaloo yaaa aiyuhal lazee nuzzila 'alaihiz Zikru innaka lamajnoon

لَّوۡ مَا تَأۡتِینَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ

اگر تم سچے ہو تو ہمارے پاس فرشتوں کو کیوں نہیں لاتے

Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"

Law maa taateenaa bil malaaa'ikati in kunta minas saadiqeen

مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوۤا۟ إِذࣰا مُّنظَرِینَ

ہم فرشتہ تو فیصلہ ہی کے لیے بھیجا کرتے ہیں اور اس وقت انہیں مہلت نہیں ملے گی

We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

Maa nunazzilul malaaa'i kata illaa bilhaqqi wa maa kaanooo izam munzareen

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ

ہم نے یہ نصیحت اتار دی ہے اور بے شک ہم اس کے نگہبان ہیں

Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.

Innaa Nahnu nazalnaz Zikra wa Innaa lahoo lahaa fizoon

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِی شِیَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

اور تجھ سے پہلے ہم پہلی قوموں میں بھی رسول بھیج چکے ہیں

And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

Wa laqad arsalnaa min qablika fee shiya'il awwaleen

وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

اور وہ بھی جب کوئی رسول ان کے پاس آتا ہے تو اس سے ٹھٹھا ہی کرتے

And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.

Wa maa yaateehim mir Rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

كَذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ

اسی طرح ہم یہ ٹھٹھا ان مجرمو ں کے دلوں میں ڈال دیتے ہیں

Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.

kazaalika naslukuhoo fee quloobil mujrimeen

لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

یہ لوگ قرآن پر ایمان نہیں لاتے اور یہ پہلوں کا دستور چلا آیا ہے

They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.

Laa yu'minoona bihee wa qad khalat sunnatul awwaleen

وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِیهِ یَعۡرُجُونَ

اور اگر ہم ان پر آسمان سے دروازہ کھول دیں پھراس میں سے چڑھ جائیں

And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,

Wa law fatahnaa 'alaihim baabam minas samaaa'i fazaloo feehi ya'rujoon

لَقَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَـٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمࣱ مَّسۡحُورُونَ

البتہ کہیں گے کہ ہماری نظر بندی کر دی گئی تھی بلکہ ہم پر جادو کیا گیا ہے

They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."

Laqaaloo innamaa sukkirat absaarunaa bal nahnu qawmum mashooroon

وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِی ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ بُرُوجࣰا وَزَیَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ

او رالبتہ تحقیق ہم نے آسمان پر برج بنائے ہیں اور دیکھنے والو ں کی نطر میں اسے رونق دی ہے

And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.

Wa laqad ja'alnaa fissamaaa'i buroojanw wa zaiyannaahaa linnaazireen

وَحَفِظۡنَـٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡطَـٰنࣲ رَّجِیمٍ

اور ہم نے اسے ہرشیطان مردود سے محفوظ رکھا

And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]

Wa hafiznaahaa min kulli Shaitaanir rajeem

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابࣱ مُّبِینࣱ

مگر جس نے چوری سے سن لیا تو اس کے پیچھے چمکتا ہوا انگارہ پڑا

Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.

Illaa manis taraqas sam'a fa atba'ahoo shihaabum mubeen

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَـٰهَا وَأَلۡقَیۡنَا فِیهَا رَوَ ٰ⁠سِیَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ مَّوۡزُونࣲ

اور ہم نے زمین کو پھیلایا اور اس پر پہاڑ رکھ دیے اوراس میں ہر چیز اندازے سے اگائی

And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.

Wal arda madadnaahaa wa alqainaa feehaa rawaasiya wa ambatnaa feehaa min kulli shai'im mawzoon

وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِیهَا مَعَـٰیِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَ ٰ⁠زِقِینَ

اوراس میں تمہارے لیے روزی کے اسباب بنا دیئے اوران کے لیے بھی جنہیں تم روزی دینے والے نہیں ہو

And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.

Wa ja'alnaa lakum feehaa ma'aayisha wa mal lastum lahoo biraaziqeen

وَإِن مِّن شَیۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَاۤىِٕنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥۤ إِلَّا بِقَدَرࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ

او رہر چیز کے ہمارے پاس خزانے ہیں اورہم صرف اسے اندازہ معین پر نازل کرتے ہیں

And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.

Wa im min shai'in illaa 'indanaa khazaaa 'inuhoo wa maa nunazziluhooo illaa biqadarim ma'loom

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّیَـٰحَ لَوَ ٰ⁠قِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَسۡقَیۡنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَاۤ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَـٰزِنِینَ

اور ہم نے بادل اٹھانے والی ہوائیں بھیجیں پھر ہم نے آسمان سے پانی نازل کیا پھر وہ تمہیں پلایا اور تمہارے پاس اس کا خزانہ نہیں ہے

And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.

Wa arsalnar riyaaha la waaqiha fa anzalnaa minas samaaa'i maaa'an fa asqai naakumoohu wa maaa antum lahoo bikhaazineen

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡیِۦ وَنُمِیتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَ ٰ⁠رِثُونَ

اور بے شک ہم ہی زندہ کرتے اور مارتے ہیں اورا خیر مالک بھی ہم ہی ہیں

And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.

Wa innnaa la nahnu nuhyee wa numeetu wa nahnul waarisoon

وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِینَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَـٔۡخِرِینَ

اور ہمیں تم میں سے اگلے او رپچھلے سب معلوم کر لیں

And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].

Wa la qad 'alimnal mustaqdimeena minkum wa laqad 'alimnal mustaakhireen

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ یَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِیمٌ عَلِیمࣱ

اور بے شک تیرا رب ہی انہیں جمع کرے گا بے شک وہ حکمت والا خبردار ہے

And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

Wa inna Rabbaka Huwa yahshuruhum; innahoo Hakeem 'Aleem

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ

اور البتہ تحقیق ہم نے انسان کو بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو سڑے ہوئے گارے سے تھی پیدا کیا

And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.

Wa laqad khalaqnal insaana min salsaalim min hama im masnoon

وَٱلۡجَاۤنَّ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ

اور ہم نے اس سے پہلے جنوں کو آگ کے شعلے سے بنایا تھا

And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

Waljaaanna khalaqnaahu min qablu min naaris samoom

وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةِ إِنِّی خَـٰلِقُۢ بَشَرࣰا مِّن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ

اور جب تیرے رب نے فرشتوں سے کہا کہ میں ایک بشر کو بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو کےسڑے ہوئے گارے کی ہو گی پیدا کرنے والا ہوں

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.

Wa iz qaala Rabbuka lilmalaaa' ikati innee khaaliqum basharam min salsaalim min hama im masnoon

فَإِذَا سَوَّیۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِیهِ مِن رُّوحِی فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِینَ

پھر جب میں اسے ٹھیک بنالوں اور اس میں اپنی روح پھونک دوں تو تم اس کے آگے سجدہ میں گر پڑنا

And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

Fa izaa sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa'oo lahoo saajideen

فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ

پھر سب کے سب فرشتوں نے سجدہ کیا

So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,

Fasajadal malaaa'ikatu kulluhum ajma'oon

إِلَّاۤ إِبۡلِیسَ أَبَىٰۤ أَن یَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ

مگر ابلیس نے انکار کیا کہ سجدہ کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہو

Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.

Illaaa ibleesa abaaa ai yakoona ma'as saajideen

قَالَ یَـٰۤإِبۡلِیسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ

فرمایا اے ابلیس! تجھے کیا ہوا کہ سجدہ کرنے والوں کے ساتھ نہ ہوا

[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"

Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa laka allaa takoona ma'as saajideen

قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَـٰلࣲ مِّنۡ حَمَإࣲ مَّسۡنُونࣲ

کہا میں ایسا نہ تھا کہ ایک ایسے بشر کو سجدہ کروں جسے تو نے بجتی ہوئی مٹی سے جو سڑے ہوئے گارے کی تھی پیدا کیا ہے

He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."

Qaala lam akul li asjuda libasharin khalaqtahoo min salsaalim min hama im masnoon

قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِیمࣱ

کہا تو آسمان سے نکل جا بے شک تو مردود ہو گیا

[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled.

Qaala fakhruj minhaa fa innaka rajeem

وَإِنَّ عَلَیۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلدِّینِ

اور بے شک تجھ پر قیامت کے دن تک لعنت رہے گی

And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."

Wa inna 'alikal la'nata ilaa Yawmid Deen

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِیۤ إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ یُبۡعَثُونَ

کہا اے میرے رب! تو پھر مجھے قیامت کے دن تک مہلت دے

He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

Qaala Rabbi fa anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِینَ

فرمایا بےشک تجھے مہلت ہے

[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

Qaala fa innaka minal munzareen

إِلَىٰ یَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ

وقت معلوم کے دن تک

Until the Day of the time well-known."

Ilaa Yawmil waqtil ma'loom

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۤ أَغۡوَیۡتَنِی لَأُزَیِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِیَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ

کہا اے میرے رب! جیسا تو نے مجھے گمراہ لیا ہے البتہ ضرور ضرور میں زمین میں انہیں ان کے گناہوں کو مرغوب کر کے دکھاؤں گا اور ان سب کو گمراہ کروں گا

[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

Qaala Rabbi bimaaa aghwaitanee la uzayyinaana lahum fil ardi wa la ughwiyan nahum ajma'een

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِینَ

سوائے تیرے ان بندوں کے جو ان میں مخلص ہو ں گے

Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

Illaa 'ibaadaka minhumul mukhlaseen

قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَ ٰ⁠طٌ عَلَیَّ مُسۡتَقِیمٌ

فرمایا یہ راستہ مجھ پر سیدھا ہے

[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.

Qaala haaza Siraatun 'alaiya Mustaqeem

إِنَّ عِبَادِی لَیۡسَ لَكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِینَ

بے شک میرے بندوں پر تیرا کچھ بھی بس نہیں چلے گا مگر جو گمراہوں میں سے تیرا تابعدار ہوا

Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.

Inna 'ibaadee laisa laka 'alaihim sultaanun illaa manittaba'aka minal ghaaween

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ

اور بے شک ان سب کا وعدہ دوزخ پر ہے

And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.

Wa inna jahannama lamaw'iduhum ajma'een

لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَ ٰ⁠بࣲ لِّكُلِّ بَابࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءࣱ مَّقۡسُومٌ

اس کے سات دروازے ہیں ہر دروازے کے لیے ان کے الگ الگ حصے ہیں

It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated."

Lahaa sab'atu abwaab; likulli baabim minhum juz'um maqsoom

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ

بے شک پرہیزگار باغوں اور چشموں میں رہیں گے

Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.

Innal muttaqeena fee Jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمٍ ءَامِنِینَ

ان باغوں میں سلامتی اور امن سے جا کر رہو

[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."

Udkhuloohaa bisalaamin aamineen

وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِی صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَ ٰ⁠نًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِینَ

اور ان کے دلوں میں جو کینہ تھا ہم وہ سب دور کر دیں گے سب بھائی بھائی ہوں گے تختوں پر آمنے سامنے بیٹھنے والے ہوں گے

And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.

Wa naza'naa ma fee sudoorihim min ghillin ikhwaanan 'alaa sururim mutaqaabileen

لَا یَمَسُّهُمۡ فِیهَا نَصَبࣱ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِینَ

انہیں وہاں کوئی تکلیف نہیں پہنچے گی اور نہ وہ وہاں سے نکالے جائیں گے

No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.

Laa yamas suhum feehaa nasabunw wa maa hum minhaa bimukhrajeen

۞ نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِیۤ أَنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

میرے بندوں کو اطلاع دے کہ بےشک میں بحشنے والا مہربان ہوں

[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.

Nabbi' 'ibaadeee annneee anal Ghafoorur Raheem

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِی هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِیمُ

اور بے شک میرا عذاب وہی دردناک عذاب ہے

And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.

Wa anna 'azaabee uwal 'azaabul aleem

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَیۡفِ إِبۡرَ ٰ⁠هِیمَ

اور انہیں ابراھیم کے مہمانوں کا حال سنا دو

And inform them about the guests of Abraham,

Wa nabbi'hum 'an daifi Ibraaheem

إِذۡ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمࣰا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ

جب اس کے گھر میں داخل ہوئے اور کہا سلام اس نے کہا بے شک ہمیں تم سے ڈر معلوم ہوتا ہے

When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."

Iz dakhaloo 'alaihi faqaaloo salaaman qaala innaa minkum wajiloon

قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِیمࣲ

کہا ڈرو مت بے شک ہم تمہیں ایک دن لڑکے کی خوشخبری سناتے ہیں

[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."

Qaaloo la tawjal innaa nubashshiruka bighulaamin 'aleem

قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِی عَلَىٰۤ أَن مَّسَّنِیَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ

کہا مجھے اب بڑھاپے میں خوشخبری سناتے ہو سو کس چیز کی خوشخبری سناتے ہو

He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"

Qaala abashshartumoonee 'alaaa am massaniyal kibaru fabima tubashshiroon

قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَـٰنِطِینَ

انہوں نے کہا ہم نے تمہیں بھی سچی خوشخبری سنائی ہے سو تو نا امید نہ ہو

They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."

Qaaloo bashsharnaaka bilhaqqi falaa takum minal qaaniteen

قَالَ وَمَن یَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ إِلَّا ٱلضَّاۤلُّونَ

کہا اپنے رب کی رحمت سے نا امید تو گمراہ لوگ ہی ہوا کرتے ہیں

He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"

Qaala wa mai yaqnatu mir rahmati Rabbiheee illad daaaloon

قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَیُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

کہا اے فرشتو! پھر تمہارا کیا مقصد ہے

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

Qaala famaa khatbukum aiyuhal mursaloon

قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّاۤ أُرۡسِلۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمࣲ مُّجۡرِمِینَ

انہوں نے کہا ہم ایک نافرمان قوم کی طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,

Qaaloo innaaa ursilnaaa ilaa qawmim mujrimeen

إِلَّاۤ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ

مگر لوط کے گھر والے کہ ہم ان سب کو بچا لیں گے

Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

Illaaa Aala Loot; innaa lamunajjoohum ajma'een

إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَاۤ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ

مگر اس کی بیوی ہم نے فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ وہ پیچھے رہنے والو ں میں سے ہے

Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind.

Illam ra atahoo qaddarnaaa innahaa laminal ghaabireen

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

پھر جب لوط کے گھر فرشتے پہنچے

And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,

Falamma jaaa'a Aala Lootinil mursaloon

قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ مُّنكَرُونَ

کہا بے شک تم اجنبی لوگ ہو

He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."

Qaala innakum qawmum munkaroon

قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِیهِ یَمۡتَرُونَ

انہوں نے کہا بلکہ ہم تیرے پاس وہ چیز لے کر آئے ہیں جس میں وہ جھگڑتے تھے

They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,

Qaaloo bal ji'naaka bimaa kaanoo feehi yamtaroon

وَأَتَیۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ

او رہم تیرے پاس پکی بات لائے ہیں اوربے شک ہم سچ کہتے ہیں

And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

Wa atainaaka bilhaqqi wa innaa lasaadiqoon

فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعࣲ مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَـٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا یَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدࣱ وَٱمۡضُوا۟ حَیۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ

پس تم اپنے گھر والوں کو کچھ رات رہے لے نکلو اور تو ان کے پیچھے چل اور تم میں سے کوئی مڑ کر نہ دیکھے اور چلے جاؤ جہاں تمہیں حکم ہے

So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."

Fa asri bi ahlika biqit'im minal laili wattabi' adbaarahum wa laa yaltafit minkum ahadunw wamdoo haisu tu'maroon

وَقَضَیۡنَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ مَقۡطُوعࣱ مُّصۡبِحِینَ

اور ہم نے لوط کو قطعی طور پر یہ بات واضح کر دی تھی کہ صبح ہوتے ہی ان کی جڑ کاٹ دی جائے گی

And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.

Wa qadainaaa ilaihi zaalikal amra anna daabira haaa'ulaaa'i maqtoo'um musbiheen

وَجَاۤءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِینَةِ یَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ

اور شہر والے خوشیاں کرتے ہوئے آئے

And the people of the city came rejoicing.

Wa jaaa'a ahlul madeenati yastabshiroon

قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ ضَیۡفِی فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ

لوط نے کہا یہ لوگ میرے مہمان ہیں سو مجھے ذلیل نہ کرو

[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

Qaala inna haaa'ulaaa'i daifee falaa tafdahoon

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ

اور الله سے ڈرو اور مجھے بے آبرو نہ کرو

And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."

Wattaqul laaha wa laa tukhzoon

قَالُوۤا۟ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

انہوں نے کہا کیاہم نے تمہیں دنیا بھر کی حمایت سے منع نہیں کیا ہے

They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"

Qaalooo awalam nanhaka 'anil 'aalameen

قَالَ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ بَنَاتِیۤ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَـٰعِلِینَ

کہا یہ میری بیٹیاں حاضر ہیں اگر تم کرنے والے ہو

[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

Qaala haaa'ulaaa'i banaateee in kuntum faa'ileen

لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِی سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ

تیری جان کی قسم ہے وہ اپنی مستی میں اندھے ہو رہے تھے

By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

La'amruka innahum lafee sakratihim ya'mahoon

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِینَ

پھر دن نکلتے ہی انہیں ہولناک آواز نے آ لیا

So the shriek seized them at sunrise.

Fa akhazat humus saihatu mushriqeen

فَجَعَلۡنَا عَـٰلِیَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةࣰ مِّن سِجِّیلٍ

پھر ہم نے ان بستیوں کو زیرو زبر کر دیا اور ان پر کنکر کے پتھر برسائے

And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

Faja'alnaa 'aaliyahaa saafilahaa wa amtamaa 'alaihim hijaaratam min sjijjeel

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَـٰتࣲ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِینَ

بے شک اس واقعہ میں اہلِ بصیرت کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں

Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

Inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil lilmutawassimeen

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِیلࣲ مُّقِیمٍ

اور بے شک یہ بستیاں سیدھے راستے پر واقع ہیں

And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.

Wa innahaa labi sabeelim muqeem

إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

بے شک اس میں ایمانداروں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں

Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

Inna fee zaalika la Aayatal lilmu'mineen

وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡأَیۡكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِینَ

اوربن کے لوگ بھی بدکار تھے

And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.

Wa in kaana Ashaabul Aikati lazaalimeen

فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامࣲ مُّبِینࣲ

پھر ہم نےان سےبھی بدلہ لیا اور یہ دونوں بستیاں کھلے راستہ پر واقع ہیں

So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

Fantaqamnaa minhum wa innahumaa labi imaamim mubeen

وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

او ربے شک حجر والوں نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا تھا

And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.

Wa laqad kazzaba ashaabul Hijril mursaleen

وَءَاتَیۡنَـٰهُمۡ ءَایَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِینَ

اور ہم نے انہیں اپنی نشانیاں بھی دی تھیں پر وہ ان سے روگردانی کرتے تھے

And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.

Wa aatainaahum Aayaatinaa fakaanoo 'anhaa mu'rideen

وَكَانُوا۟ یَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتًا ءَامِنِینَ

او وہ لوگ پہاڑوں کو تراش کر گھر بناتے تھے کہ امن میں رہیں

And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

Wa kaanoo yanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan aamineen

فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّیۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِینَ

پھر انہیں صبح کے وقت سخت آواز نے آ پکڑا

But the shriek seized them at early morning.

Fa akhazat humus saihatu musbiheen

فَمَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ

پھر ان کے دنیاوی ہنر ان کے کچھ بھی کام نہ آئے

So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.

Famaaa aghnaa 'anhum maa kaanoo yaksiboon

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰ⁠تِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَـَٔاتِیَةࣱۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِیلَ

اور ہم نے آسمانوں اور زمین اور ان کی درمیانی چیزوں کو بغیر حکمت کے پیدا نہیں کیا اور قیامت ضرور آنے والی ہے پر تو ان سے خوش خلقی کے ساتھ کنارہ کر

And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

Wa maa khalaqnas samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaaa illaa bilhaqq; wa innas Saa'ata la aatiyatun fasfahis safhal jameel

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ

بے شک تیار رب وہی پیدا کرنے والا جاننے والا ہے

Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.

Inna Rabbaka Huwal khallaaqul 'aleem

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَیۡنَـٰكَ سَبۡعࣰا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِی وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِیمَ

اور ہم نے تمہیں سات آیتیں دیں جو (نماز میں) دہرائی جاتی ہیں اور قرآن عظمت والا دیا

And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.

Wa laqad aatainaaka sab'am mnal masaanee wal Qur-aanal 'azeem

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیۡنَیۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰ⁠جࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَیۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

اور تو اپنی آنکھ اٹھا کر بھی ان چیزوں کو نہ دیکھ جو ہم نے مختلف قسم کے کافروں کو استعمال کے لیے دے رکھی ہیں اور ان پر غم نہ کر اور اپنے بازو ایمان والوں کے لیے جھکا دے

Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

Laa tamuddanna 'ainaika ilaa maa matta 'naa biheee azwaajam minhum wa laa tahzan 'alaihim wakhfid janaahaka lilmu 'mineen

وَقُلۡ إِنِّیۤ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِیرُ ٱلۡمُبِینُ

اور کہہ دو بے شک میں کھلم کھلا ڈرانے والا ہوں

And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -

Wa qul inneee anan nazeerul mubeen

كَمَاۤ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِینَ

جیسا ہم نے (عذاب) ان بانٹنے والو ں پر بھیجا ہے

Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators

Kamaaa anzalnaa 'alal muqtasimeen

ٱلَّذِینَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِینَ

جنہوں نے قرآن کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کیا ہے

Who have made the Qur'an into portions.

Allazeena ja'alul Quraana'ideen

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡـَٔلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ

پھر تیرے رب کی قسم ہے البتہ ہم ان سب سے سوال کریں گے

So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

Fawa Rabbika lanas'a lannahum ajma'een

عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ

اس چیز سے کہ وہ کرتے تھے

About what they used to do.

'Ammaa kaanoo ya'maloon

فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِینَ

سو تو کھول کر سنا دے جو تجھے حکم دیا گیا ہے اور مشرکوں کی پروا نہ کر

Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.

Fasda' bimaa tu'maru wa a'rid anil mushrikeen

إِنَّا كَفَیۡنَـٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِینَ

بے شک ہم تیری طرف سے ٹھٹھا کرنے والوں کے لیے کافی ہیں

Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers

Innaa kafainaakal mustahzi'een

ٱلَّذِینَ یَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ یَعۡلَمُونَ

اور جو الله کے ساتھ دوسرا خدا مقرر کرتے ہیں سو عنقریب معلوم کر لیں گے

Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.

Allazeena yaj'aloona ma'al laahi ilaahan aakhar; fasawfa ya'lamoon

وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ یَضِیقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا یَقُولُونَ

اور ہم جانتے ہیں کہ تیرا دل ان باتوں سے تنگ ہوتا ہے جو وہ کہتے ہیں

And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.

Wa laqad na'lamu annak yadeequ sadruka bimaa yaqooloon

فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ

سو تو اپنے رب کی تسبیح حمد کے ساتھ کیے جا اور سجدہ کرنے والوں میں سے ہو

So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].

Fasbbih bihamdi Rabbika wa kum minas saajideen

وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ یَأۡتِیَكَ ٱلۡیَقِینُ

اور اپنے رب کی عبادت کرتے رہو یہاں تک کہ تمہیں موت آجائے

And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).

Wa'bud Rabbaka hattaa yaatiyakal yaqeen
